About

Lewis Boyle“Meet Your Instructor”

Welcome to the class. My name is Professor Lewis Boyle, however, I prefer to be called “Mr. B”. I will be your instructor and facilitator for your class this semester. Following is a little background on me: I graduated from ETSU, which is now TAMU at Commerce in 1971 with my MS degree and went right into teaching: first year at Keller H.S. and the second year at Laredo Jr. College. Then, for the next three years, I worked for the Texas Water Quality Board in their Education and Training Department. After five years in the education field, I gave up pursuing my degree and took a position in sales and stayed in that market for over twenty-five years.

In the beginning, my wife thought she and our two children would starve as she had no belief in me as a salesman, but we seemed to manage. Then as time passed, we did some things financially that has allowed Joan and me to semi-retire from a traditional full time job. Because of this, I was able to get back into teaching as an adjunct instructor at LoneStar College-Tomball in the fall of 2002.

I enjoy teaching, it is a passion of mine and I want to make a difference, one student at a time. I believe in the “Fish” philosophy LSC-Tomball has adopted, which is:

“Fish”; 1. Play; 2. Make their day; 3. Be there; and 4. Choose your attitude.

I feel teaching, then work place, then back to teaching has given me unique perspectives and experiences which I relate to students taking a non-majors biology course. Had I purely stayed in teaching for all those years, it would not have brought me those experiences and insights I bring to the classroom today.

Now you have read my story and hopefully you know me better, and I look forward to getting to know you via your student home page and the discussion board this semester. Be sure to check out the link to my faculty office and while you are there, be sure and click on my picture (tell me what happens when you do)!
