Bio

Mark Thorsby has been teaching a variety of philosophy courses since the Fall of 2006. He holds a Masters degree in philosophy from the New School for Social Research in New York City and is currently completing his PHD there. His repetoire of courses inclued Introduction to Philosophy, Persons and Problems in Philosophy, Contemporary Moral Issues, Introduction to Ethics, Philosophy and Literature, Political and Social Philosophy, Environmental Ethics, Existentialism and Phenomenology, Logic, Western Civilization, and more. He is active in his field, often attending multiple conferences per year. Most recently, Mark presented a paper on the Phenomenology of Space and Architecture in July 2009 at Mansfield COllege of Oxford University in the United Kingdom. Other conference papers have included topics on Wittgenstein, the language of race, environmental ethics, existentialist and Marxist philosophy. His dissertation develops an analysis of environmental ethics in terms of engagement, phenomenological philosophy, logic, and ancient philosophy.
