About my Fall 2022 Introductory Algebra/Pre-Algebra Courses

Fall Semester 2022 is underway. Math 0308 Introductory Algebr and Math 0106 Pre-Algebra In-Class, on-Campus courses Start Date was August 29, 2022 and the End Date is December 15, 2022. Attendance is required for all In-Class scheduled class days and times (Math 0308 Intro Algebra Math – Math 0106 Pre-Algebra NCBO at Montgomery College in Building F, Room F 233 and Math 0308 Introductory Algebr – Math 0106 Pre-Algebra NCBO at Conroe Center, Room 125). Course graded assignments of homework and tests will be completed by means your Pearson MyLabMath online course. Student grading, and reporting will be done online in the Pearson, MyLab Math online learning management system. Graded course assignments will be completed according to the Course Calendar and MyLab Math scheduled due dates. A total of approximately seven Math 0308 chapter tests are scheduled over the sixteen week fall session with approximately one test every two weeks. Each test assignment requires prerequisite completion of a lesson video, a number of graded homework assignments, quizzes, a test review and the test. Math 0106 Pre-Algegra requires completion of graded quizzes and classroom activity. Your course Letter Grade will be posted for both your Math 0308 and for Math 0106 courses in your Lonestar Gradebook. Numerous optional learning and practicing features are available in MyLab Math. Your Math 0308 Course Overall Grade is determined by weighted scores of the homework, reviews, tests and the Final Exam as given by the Course Syllabus. Your Math 0106 Course Grade is determined by weighted average of MyLab Math quiz assignments and Math 0106 classroom assignments.

The required course materials for the course include purchase of the MyLab Math course Access Code necessary for internet access to all course tests, homework, quizzes, and practice online assignments as well as to course materials including the online course e-textbook, and the course content videos. The course Access Code may be purchased online by credit card upon student course Registration and Enrollment. A fourteen 14 day temporary use is provided by the publisher. Students are not required to purchase the hard-copy version of the course textbook for continued course use.

All Tests and the Final Exam may be taken two times during the course scheduled Test Days in the clssroom. The higher score is used to determine the test score and the Course Overall grade. Tests and the Final require password protected entry by your instructor or a Lab Proctor. Upon your request, your instructor will review the higher score test for awarding possible partial credit and for verifying student completion. Tests may be taken ahead of schedule on a Test day prior to their scheduled Due upon completion of the Test Review with a required 70% or greater score. Approved testing for ADA students may be completed in a Math Department authorized On-Campus Lone Star College Testing Center.

Tests and the Final Exam for Developmental Mathematics courses WILL BE test protected and PROCTORED. Course assignments are to be completed by their Course Schedule due date according to the Course Calendar and MyLabsPlus schedules. Student access to course lessons in MyMathLab (MyLabsPlus) will be available on the course start date. Students should select the course links in this Blog to access the Course Syllabus and Course Calendar. Students need to review the Course Syllabus for course requirements and policies. Please pay particular attention to the sections on the requirements for course testing, MyMathLab(MyLabsPlus), and Testing Policies. Students need to print the Course Schedule, the Testing and Grading sections of the Course Syllabus, and if a print copy is desired, specific pages or sections of the online course textbook. A print Hardcopy of the course textbook IS NOT required.

About MyLab Math

The Pearson MyLab Math Course Management System ACCESS CODE must be purchased by students for use in all Lone Star College (LSC) Montgomery and Conroe Center online and face-to-face (F2F) Math 0308 and Math 0106 developmental mathematics courses. All course homework exercises, test reviews, test assignments, Quizzes and example exercises must be completed in the MyLab Math application. New Montgomery College students must purchase the course assigned version MyLab Math ACCESS CODE. Students may purchase the required materials from the Montgomery College or Conroe Center bookstores, or upon MyLab Math registration with a credit card. A 15 Day free use is provided for immediate enrollment and access to your course assignments. A MyLab Math ACCESS CODE is provide for purchase and internet access to all course materials. All course documents, course assignments, the online course e-text and e-workbook are available in MyLab Math. The course hard-copy textbook IS NOT required. Previously returning Montgomery College or Conroe Center students who purchased the previously required MyMathLab(MyLabsPlus) Textbook Package MAY NOT be provided the online MyLab Math access code. The access code is used for product registration. Students must establish an online Pearson account if none has been established previously, and REGISTER for your MyLab Math their course. If you are a first-time user of MyLab Math, click Student under Register Now. Students are NOT automatically ENROLLED in their MyLab Math online developmental mathematics course which includes all course assignments/lessons.If you already have an active MyLab Math account,log into your account and click on Enroll in a New Course. When prompted for your course ID, enter: To be announced/strong>. Students have access to the MyLab Math course assignments on the course start date of the semester through course withdrawal or the last day of the semester. The MyLab Math application is supported on PC, MAC and IOS platforms.

There is no reason why a student may not start completing MyLab Math application assignments as Pearson provides an approximate two weeks FREE USE from the initial student registration date. MyLab Math application login and General Information for new and returning students is provided in the Course Syllabus. With registration and Enrollment, your developmental mathematics course will be shown in your MyLab Math application course list by the course Start Date on August 28, 2020.

A mandatory requirement for continued Math 0308 course roster enrollment is that students must complete at least one assignment in their MyLab Math course prior to the Official Day Roster (ODR). A student WILL be dropped from their Math 0308 course who does not Register, Enroll, and complete at least one assignment in their MyLab Math course on or before one day prior to the Official Day Report (ODR). Additionally, a student may be dropped from their Math 0308 course who misses 2 or more MyLab Math tests.

About Desire2Learn (D2L)

Desire2Learn (D2L) course for my mathematics courses is available to all students enrolled in my online as well as my F2F in-class courses. Your Mathematics D2L course will contain the Course Syllabus, the Course Calendar, initial course announcements and general information. All course homework, test reviews and test assignments for both my online and my F2F in-class mathematics courses, must be taken and managed in MyMathLab (MyLabsPlus). I ask that students NOT send D2L email communications after the first week of class. MyMathLab (MyLabsPlus) email communications with regard to lessons will be used once students set their preferred email address in their MyMathLab PROFILE. Click on Desire2Learn for access and login to Desire2Learn using your Lone Star seven digit Lonestar ID and your defined LSC password. Your D2L course will be shown in your course list upon D2L login very shortly after your Math course registration. You may NOT have access to your D2L course content until your Math course Start Date.
