Formats of Different Courses
Transitional Mathematics Department
In the Transitional Math Department, we offer Math 0306 (Pre-Algebra), Math 0308 (Introductory Algebra), and Math 0310 (Intermediate Algebra). In addition to the traditional lecture format, these courses are also offered in the following formats:
Math 0306 – Pre-Algebra
-
Math 0306/0308 Learning Community – This learning community allows students to complete both Math 0306 and Math 0308 in one semester. Students will register for both classes and begin the first eight weeks of the semester with Math 0306. After successful completion of the course (70 or better), the students will immediately begin Math 0308 for the last eight weeks of the semester.
-
Computer Aided Learning (Academic Systems) – Through the use of Academic Systems, an interactive math software, students are allowed to complete Math 0306 by receiving their lectures, exams, and homework at their own pace. This class takes place on campus but is completed through the use of an interactive math software. Students must use a computer each day with this course. It is also important that students have computer access at home.
-
Flex Course (with the use of Academic Systems) – Students who enroll in the flex course are required to meet only once a week face-to-face with their instructor. Their lectures, quizzes, homework, and exams can all be completed using Academic Systems.
