Tune: Baa Baa Black Sheep

Moo Moo, Brown cow.
Have you milk for me?
Yes, sir. Yes, sir.
As tasty as can be!

Churn it into butter,
Make it into cheese,
Freeze it into ice cream,
Or drink it if you please!

Moo Moo, Brown cow.
Have you milk for me?
Yes, sir. Yes, sir.
As tasty as can be!

Over in the Barnyard

Tune: Down by the Station

Over in the barnyard
Early in the morning,
See the yellow chickies
Standing in a row.
See the busy farmer
Giving them breakfast.
Cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep.
Off they go.

Over in the barnyard
Early in the morning,
See the brown milk cows
Standing in a row.
See the busy farmer
Giving them breakfast.
moo, moo, moo, moo.
Off they go.

Over in the barnyard
Early in the morning,
See the white fluffy sheep
Standing in a row.
See the busy farmer
Giving them breakfast.
baa, baa, baa, baa.
Off they go.

Over in the barnyard
Early in the morning,
See the pink piggies
Standing in a row.
See the busy farmer
Giving them breakfast.

Sing and Sketch: Irish Lullaby

Posted on April 1st, 2025 by by Krissy

March 11th: St. Patrick’s Day Baby Time

Hope you wore green for our St. Patrick’s Day Baby Time!

Here are the songs and rhymes we used:

Do Your Ears Point Up
http://www.lilteacher.com/leprechauns.html
Tune: Do Your Ears Hang Low

Do your ears point up?
Do you have a lot of luck?
Can you dance an Irish jig?
For a pot of gold you’ll dig?
Can you toss gold over your shoulder?
Like a giant throws a boulder?
Do your ears point up?

Shamrocks
Adapted by Miss Krissy
Tune: There’s a Spider on the Floor!

There’s a shamrock in my hair in my hair
There’s a shamrock in my hair in my hair
Oh what’s it doing there
this little shamrock in my hair
There’s a shamrock in my hair in my hair

Now the shamrock’s on my tummy,
on my tummy!
There’s a shamrock on my tummy,
on my tummy!
It tickles and its funny
With a shamrock on my tummy
There’s a shamrock on my tummy,
on my tummy!

Now the shamrock’s on my toes
on my toes!
There’s a shamrock on my toes
on my toes!
What’s it doing down on those?
It likes to tickle, I suppose,
Oh there’s a shamrock on my toes
on my toes!

Irish Lullaby
Traditional Song

Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Too-ra-loo-ra-li,
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
hush now, don’t you cry!

Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Too-ra-loo-ra-li,
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
that’s an Irish lullaby.

Over in Killarney
Many years ago,
Me Mither sang a song to me
In tones so sweet and low.

Just a simple little ditty,
In her good ould Irish way,
And l’d give the world if she could sing
That song to me this day.

Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Too-ra-loo-ra-li,
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
hush now, don’t you cry!

Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Too-ra-loo-ra-li,
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
that’s an Irish lullaby.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1U5i_scF_M

March 4th: Horsin’ Around in Baby Time

With the rodeo in town it was the perfect time for us to have a story time all about horses!

Here are the songs and rhymes we used:

I Know a Little Pony
Traditional rhyme

I know a little pony
(knee ride with baby facing forward)
His name is Dapple Grey
He lives down in a meadow
Not very far away
He goes nibble, nibble, nibble
(tickle the baby)
Trot, trot, trot…and
(bounce from side to side)
Stay behind and wait a bit…
(no movement)
A gallop, a gallop, a gallop, AWAY!
(quick gallop, swing baby up on AWAY)

Six Little Ponies
Adapted by Miss Krissy

One little pony went out to play
On a bright and sunny day
She had such enormous fun
She called another little pony to come!

Two… Three… Four… Five…

Six little ponies went out to play
On a bright and sunny day
Time to go, the day is done
Good-bye little ponies, every one!

Derry Down Derry
Traditional rhyme

Derry, down derry
And up in the air,
Baby shall ride
(substitute baby’s name)
without pony or mare .
Clasped in my arms (hug)
Like a queen/king on a throne,
Prettiest/Handsomest rider (give a kiss)
That ever was known.

Trot Old Joe
Texas Folk Song page 55, Teachers Edition Second Grade, Share the Music, McGraw Hill 1998. CD2:12

I Love You
http://www.kididdles.com/lyrics/b087.html

The buzzing bees love the clover patch,
The flowers, they love the dew,
The little birds love the apple tree,
But I love you!

The sunshine, it kisses the mountainside,
The stars in the sky kiss the sea,
But I’d be the happiest Mom/Dad on earth
If you’d kiss me!

Snow: January 28th

With the chill in the air, Snow seemed like the perfect theme for Baby Time!

Here are the songs and rhymes we used:

Frost is in the Air
http://www.theholidayzone.com/winter/songs.htm
Tune of “The Farmer in the Dell”

The frost is in the air, the frost is in the air.
It’s wintertime, It’s wintertime,
The frost is in the air.

The frost is on the trees, the frost is on the trees.
It’s wintertime, It’s wintertime,
The frost is on the trees.

The frost is on the ground, the frost is on the ground.
It’s wintertime, It’s wintertime,
The frost is on the ground.

So inside I’ll stay, so inside I’ll stay.
Inside it’s nice, and I am warm.
So inside I’ll stay.

Snow Falls
https://babetter.wordpress.com/rhymes-fingerplays/new-two-snow-fingerplays/

Snow falls on my head.
Snow falls on my nose.
Snow falls on my boots
But it doesn’t touch my toes!

Snow falls on my hands.
Snow falls on my hair.
Snow falls on my shoulders.
Snow falls everywhere!

Five Little Snowmen
Tune: Five Little Ducks
Adapted from: http://stepbystepcc.com/snowman2.html

Five little snowmen round and fat.
Each one wearing a funny hat.
In the morning, out came the sun.
It looked down and melted one.
(lean baby over to the side)

Four * Three * Two * One

But do not worry.  Do not fear.
The snowmen will all come back next year.

Hill of Snow
http://www.preschoolexpress.com/music_station03/music_station_jan03.shtml

Climb, climb, climb up the hill of snow.
(Let fingers walk up your arm or bent leg.)
Jump on our sleds down we go.
Weeee!
(Let fingers slide down your arm or leg.)

Snowball
By Shel Silverstein

I made myself a snow ball
as perfect as could be.
I thought I’d keep it as a pet
and let it sleep with me.
I made it some pajamas
and a pillow for it’s head.
Then, last night it ran away.
But first — it wet the bed.

January 14th: Dragon Baby Time

To celebrate National Dragon Day we had a dragon themed Baby Time! National Dragon Day is technically the 16th, so we celebrated a little early.

Here are the songs and rhymes we used:

Five Little Dragons
Tune: Five Little Ducks
A Miss Krissy song

One little dragon went out to play,
On a bright and sunny day.
He had such enormous fun
That he called another little dragon to come.
Roar Roar Roar!

Two little dragons went out to play,
On a bright and sunny day.
They had such enormous fun
That they called another little dragon to come.
Roar Roar Roar!

Three little dragons went out to play,
On a bright and sunny day.
They had such enormous fun
That they called another little dragon to come.
Roar Roar Roar!

Four little dragons went out to play,
On a bright and sunny day.
They had such enormous fun
That they called another little dragon to come.
Roar Roar Roar!

Five little dragons went out to play,
On a bright and sunny day.
They had such enormous fun
But the sun has set and day is done.

Little Bitty Dragon
Tune: Teddy Bear Teddy Bear
A Miss Krissy song

Little bitty dragon reach up high
Little bitty dragon touch the sky

Little bitty dragon kiss your nose
Little bitty dragon tickle your toes

Little bitty dragon bounce for me
Little bitty dragon tickle your knee

Little bitty dragon hug me tight
Little bitty dragon kiss good night

Over in the Kingdom
Tune: Over in the Meadow
A Miss Krissy song

Over in the kingdom in a castle in the sun
Lived an old mother queen and her little prince one
“Bow”, said the mother. “I bow”, said the one
So they bowed and they curtsied in the castle in the sun.

Over in the kingdom where the stream runs through
Lived an old mother mermaid and her little mermaids two
“Swim,” said the mermaid “We swim,” said the two
So they swam and they swam  where the stream runs through

Over in the kingdom in a forest in a tree
Lived an old father gnome and his little gnomes three
“Climb”, said the gnome. “We climb,” said the three
So they climbed and they climbed in the forest in a tree.

Over in the kingdom in a cave with a door
Lived an old father dragon and his little dragons four.
“Roar,” said the dragon, “We roar,” said the four
So the little dragons roared in a cave with a door.

Over in the kingdom, very glad to be alive,
lived a knight and his horse and the finished quests five.
“Hurrah!” said the people “Hurrah for the five!”
So the knight went back home with the finished quests five.
