OpenGEO Project

The LSC Center for Geosciences is staring s a new community-based citizen science initiative called the OpenGEO Project, an “open-data/open-science” program designed to conduct community-partnered aerial survey projects and share maps and associate data with project partners and participants.

OpenGEO Project Database:

  • Maps include 2D orthomosaics, Digital Surface Models (DSM), NDVI vegetation index, and 3D point clouds models. Data export files: JPG, GeoTIFF, OBJ, and PDF.
  • Map Datasets include a collection of ground-truthing images and descriptions. Our projects include a collection of ground-truth data on surveyed locations to aid in the interpretation and analysis.

Community Partners include:

Memorial Park Conservancy

MPC Projects Include: Vegetation studies (NDVI vegetation indexing and classification), historical site map surveys, 3D river modeling, land use surveys, volumetric surveys, etc. All map data collected is available through the OpenGEO Project for partners and project participants .

Rutherford B. H. Yates Museum
